Natural Gas Features in
The Model Home at Schoolhouse Landing
The model home at Schoolhouse Landing showcases some of the many uses for natural gas. Yankee Gas provides the natural gas for this home.
The kitchen has a self cleaning natural gas range which is from the General Electric Profile collection (model # JGB908SEKSS). The cooktop has sealed gas burners and there is a warming drawer below the oven. Gas is the fuel of choice for many gourmet cooks.

In the laundry room there is a natural gas dryer from the General Electric Profile collection (model # DZSR483GFGG). It offers four different heat settings.

The living room features a natural gas fireplace which can be operated from a remote control. No long waiting like when you build a wood fire! And no messy logs to carry into your home. A special feature of this fireplace used in the model home is that it is a two way fireplace.

Shown above is the view looking from the rear deck at the see-through indoor/outdoor natural gas Heat & Glo Twilight fireplace. This fireplace provides heat on the deck as well as adding a lot to the ambience. T & M won a 2005 HOBI award from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut for this fireplace which was named best indoor/outdoor feature. The Twilight fireplace was spotlighted in Connecticut Builder magazine.
The model home has a large entertainment/game room in the basement where there is another gas burning fireplace. the fireplace vents out the rear wall and this allows the opportunity to have a big alcove above the fireplace where a television can be located.

The furnace is a high efficiency (90% + efficiency rating) condensing natural gas furnace. This furnace allows the exhaust to be vented to the outside horizontally so there is no need for a flue to extend above the roof line.

The hot water heater is a direct vent natural gas unit. The quick recovery times of a gas hot water heater allow smaller sizes to be needed when compared to an electric hot water heater.

The model home also features a Dayva natural gas outdoor heater on the rear outdoor patio. This heater can allow people to stay warm when entertaining outdoors in chillier weather.

There is also a natural gas grill on the rear deck. No need to have a propane tank refilled when you have a natural gas grill!

Both the grille and the patio heater can be plugged into the natural gas source using gas quick connect outlets located on the exterior walls of the home. These outlets are similar to electric outlets and permit natural gas appliances to be plugged in much like electric appliances.
Inside the home the natural gas travels through Gastite corrugated stainless steel tubing. This tubing bends and saves a lot of time on installation when compared to iron pipe.
